Paul Caldwell is a partner at Moore & Scarry Advertising. With over 18 years of successful automotive advertising agency, broadcast, digital and direct mail experience, he is one of the industry's leading authorities on retail sales and marketing. As partner at Moore & Scarry, he leads the business development and sales teams and is actively involved with all Moore & Scarry clients. In Paul's own words, his responsibilities include, "everything and anything to ensure the success of our clients' businesses." Noted for his equally balanced creative and analytical abilities, Paul is also a nationally recognized and sought after speaker.
Paul's lifelong love affair with cars began from an early age-- he has memories of being fascinated with cars from the age of two years. He doesn't know exactly what triggered this passion, but just knows that it's always been a huge part of his life. His earliest reading materials were Chilton Auto Repair Manuals and from the time Paul was 10 years old, he began negotiating car deals for his relatives because he knew everything about vehicles on the market. Making "commercials" was another a favorite childhood past time that has successfully transferred into his professional life.
Paul began his career at McGee & Starr Advertising back in the mid 1990s as an intern, and from the beginning, he fell in love with automotive advertising. After spending only two weeks as an intern, he was hired as a full-time account coordinator for auto retail. He then moved to sales and became the agency's number one performer within a month. After three months, he was promoted to regional sales manager. From there his career continued to skyrocket.
As his reputation as a leading sales pro grew, Paul was recruited by Clear Channel, where he quickly became a top radio sales rep and was salesperson of the month for two consecutive years. He was then promoted to non-traditional revenue director for Clear Channel. While at Clear Channel, Paul also created, produced and stared in the popular TV program The Big Boy Toy Show which was duplicated in eight markets including the U.K. After developing world-class sales, marketing and management skills, he launched his own advertising agency, Excite Marketing, in 2005. In 2007 Paul sold the successful agency and joined Virtual Lending Source as special finance general manager.
After his tenure in special finance, Paul was recruited by Moore & Scarry Advertising to open the agency's Denver office, MSAWest, in 2010. Simultaneously, he served as vice president of sales for Moore & Scarry's sister company, Haystak Digital Marketing, where he was instrumental in leading the company's award-winning growth. In 2013 Paul acquired an equity share in Moore & Scarry Advertising and together with partner Tom Kerr, took over ownership of the agency. Since then, Moore & Scarry has grown to become the nation's third largest automotive advertising agency.
During his extensive career, Paul has also raised venture capital, purchased, developed and sold radio stations, worked in real estate and started numerous successful businesses. In addition, he was a reality TV star in the early 2000s, but you'll have to ask him for those details next time you see him.
Paul currently lives in Denver with his beautiful wife Allison and two dogs Winston and Bella. He is a voracious reader who also enjoys flying airplanes, mountain biking, hiking, traveling and serving as general contractor for his home building projects when he's not "working."
